Sivan Yan is a photographer and independent publisher from Hunan, China, who originally studied railway engineering at Hunan Vocational College of Railway Technology but is now currently pursuing his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Sivan Yan’s imagery focuses on the relationship between the individual and society. In his first three-year documentary project, he walked 100 kilometers along the Xiangjiang River in his hometown, focusing on the identity and living conditions of the new generation of Xiangjiang residents. Reconstruct the emotional commonality of the residents of Xiang river in the folds of history.
